Carmichael is situated about 15 minutes east of Downtown Sacramento. This 17 square mile neighborhood has one of only two regional libraries in Sacramento County, a trauma center, Mercy San Juan Medical Center, and is home to one of the top school districts in the state, San Juan Unified School District. It also has a 320 acre public golf course (Ancil Hoffman Golf Course), the Effie Yeaw Nature Center, two excellent park districts, and a wide range of retail, professional and service businesses.
 
Outdoor Sacramento activities such as hiking, running, and cycling are made easy given Carmichael’s easy access to the American River, Ancil Hoffman Park, riding trails, bike trails, Downtown Sacramento, and California State University, Sacramento.  
 
Established in the 1940s, the neighborhoods offer tree-lined streets that afford you comfort in the hot summer days. The housing in Carmichael ranges from newly remodeled mansions to small cottages on large pieces of land.
