Sacramento’s central city is composed of two primary neighborhoods — Downtown and Midtown.

Midtown Sacramento, with its many restaurants, bars, coffee shops, live music venues and indie boutiques, is a popular area for younger professionals. The culture is dynamic and hip, and there’s always something to do — food festivals, outdoor mural tours, art galleries, 2nd Art Saturdays, farmers markets, live music venues, and much more. Victorian-era homes line the tree-covered streets and locals can walk out their front doors to their neighborhood eatery for a bite to eat in minutes.

Downtown Sacramento, located just west of midtown towards the Sacramento River and Old Sacramento, has a high concentration of restaurants, bars, attractions, parks and the SAFE Credit Union Convention & Performing Arts District. With the construction of the Golden One Center and DOCO (Downtown Commons) area, downtown Sacramento is hotter than ever. Many of the city’s financial, corporate and government offices are located here so commute times are virtually nonexistent. Walkable streets, performing arts venues, farmers markets, Sacramento King’s games, and plenty of bars and restaurants make for an energy-filled dynamic neighborhood. Brand-new apartments, lofts, and condos also provide a variety of housing choices in the area. On the western side of Downtown is the Old Sacramento Waterfront, with historic buildings, wood-plank sidewalks, museums, the Sacramento River and charm from the Gold Rush era.
